Drum Scans

If you're looking for the best and most accurate scans in Montreal, look no further. Using the Hell ChromaGraph S3010 drum scanner, all our scans are individually balanced to ensure your images look their best.

The CMYK files we deliver are calibrated to meet printing press standards. This means your images will print as expected on the first try, saving you the expense of getting multiple proofs.

When to Get a Drum Scan

Not sure if you need a drum scan or a flatbed scan? Here's a partial list of situations in which you should be using a drum scan:

  • Image quality is of paramount importance
  • Your image will be printed on a press
  • Giclée print (either you provide a transparency or we will make one for you)

If you're still not sure if a drum scan is right for you, contact us and we will be glad to assist you.

Output and Pricing

Our scans are delivered in CMYK or Grayscale (RGB is available upon request).

Pricing is based on file size; contact us for a quote.

Original Document Types

Drum scans are normally done from transparencies, B&W negatives or reflective prints. Color negatives can be scanned but the procedure is different. Contact us for more information.

Maximum document size: 20in x 24in.

Flatbed Scans

For those who don't need the quality of a drum scan, we offer RGB or grayscale scans done on our flatbed scanners. As with drum scans, each flatbed scan is individually adjusted to ensure the highest quality image.

Some typical uses for a flatbed scan include:

  • Images destined for the Internet
  • Images used in newsprint
  • Fragile originals which cannot be drum scanned
  • Flat artwork (or other original) that will be printed on the Frontier

Output and Pricing

Flatbed scans are delivered in either RGB or Grayscale (CMYK is available upon request)

Pricing is based on file size; contact us for a quote.

Original Document Types

We can scan transparencies, negatives and reflective prints.

Maximum document size: 11in x 17in.

Frontier Scans

Frontier scans are made from negatives (colour and B&W) or transparencies. As with all scans, each image is adjusted and retouched as required. Individual images or an entire roll of film can be scanned.

The maximum file size is 10"x15" at 300 dpi which gives a file about 40mb in size when opened in Photoshop.
